Terra Ginther, LMSW, CTRP

Founder + Psychotherapist

I've dedicated almost a decade of my life to studying and working within the field of trauma. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University with a specialization in Evidenced-Based Trauma Treatment and am a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children.

Before going into private practice, I got my start working at a couple of different Child Advocacy Centers or CACs (if you are unfamiliar with these non-profit organizations, they are child-friendly places where kiddos and teens go to be interviewed by specially trained professionals about abuse and neglect allegations so they don't have to go to a police station). Over the years of working in this setting I’ve held a few different titles -- parent education specialist, prevention coordinator, psychotherapist, crisis counselor, family advocate, and forensic interviewer. While I’ve loved every role I’ve held in different ways and for different reasons, after some self-reflection, I found that my most favorite role was being a psychotherapist. I truly feel like there is something incredibly special about the the long-term connection and trust built within the therapeutic relationship - these are things I value most within my role as a psychotherapist.

Making the decision to leave the CAC world was a tough one but I knew that I could not help the range of people to the extent I wanted to in that setting. So while CACs will always hold a special place in my heart - here we are in private practice. I feel like my "love tank" is filled to the brim. I have been filled with amazing experiences of working with survivors of all different types and all different ages, filled with gratitude that all my past client's have trusted me with their stories, and, above all, filled with a genuine passion to continue this line of work.
